Jane Lewty & Will Schutt Poetry Reading

Jane Lewty is the author of two collections of poetry: Bravura Cool (1913 Press, 2013), winner of the 1913 First Book Prize, and In One Form to Find Another (Cleveland State University Press, 2017) winner of the CSU Open Book Prize. She has coedited two volumes of essays: Broadcasting Modernism (University Press of Florida, 2010) and Pornotopias: Image, Desire, Apocalypse (Litteraria Pragensia, 2009).Will Schutt’s work has been recognized with many awards, including the Yale Younger Poets Prize, the Amy Lowell Poetry Traveling Scholarship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Translation Fellowship. He is the author of Westerly (Yale University Press) and translator of six works from the Italian, including My Life, I Lapped It Up: Selected Poems of Edoardo Sanguineti (Oberlin College Press) and Fabio Genovesi’s novel The Breaking of a Wave (Europa Editions; shortlisted for the 2018 ALTA Italian Prose in Translation Award). He currently teaches creative writing at Goucher College, where he directs the Goucher Young Writers’ Workshop, and he is also the co-curator of Policromia, an annual international festival of poetry and translation in Siena, Italy.

The HOT L Poets Series presents Jason Gray and Adam Vines, with open mic for poetry!Jason Gray is the author of Radiation King, winner of the Idaho Prize for Poetry, and Photographing Eden, as well as two chapbooks, How to Paint the Savior Dead and Adam & Eve Go to the Zoo. His poems have been featured in Poetry, Kenyon Review, American Poetry Review, Hopkins Review, Image, Smartish Pace and elsewhere. Adam Vines is an associate professor of English at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he is editor of Birmingham Poetry Review. He is the author of two collections of poetry, the latest Out of Speech (LSU, 2018), and coauthor of two collections of poetry. The HOT L Open poetry series presents Michael Brown & Edgar Kunz, with open mic for poetry!A longtime resident of the Bronx, Michael Brown studies at Bard at Brooklyn Public Library. He has received fellowships from Brooklyn Poets and Poetry by the Sea, and his poems have appeared in Beloit Poetry Journal, The Hopkins Review, American Chordata, and elsewhere. He currently works at the Schomburg Center's Manuscript and Rare Books Division in Harlem.Edgar Kunz is a writer from New England and author of the poetry collection Tap Out (Mariner/Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). He is a 2017 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellow and a former Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. His work was featured recently by U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith in her podcast The Slowdown.
