Issue 19 Reading & Party featuring poets Aaron Belz, Joseph Capista, Michael Collier, Patricia Davis, Deborah Doolittle, Hayden Saunier and Amy Woolard followed by the super hot The Great American Canyon Band! $10 gets you a copy of Issue 19, free beer/wine & a mindblowingly good time. All profit goes to Smartish Pace--a nonprofit organization--and helps fund the printing of our next issue.Parking: Park on Guilford Ave. if you can (1 block south of 1501 Guilford on bridge is often open) or on Mt. Royal Ave. or any blocks WEST of Guilford (toward Penn Station). There are also inexpensive parking lots near Penn Station (on E. Lanvale between Charles St. & St. Paul) and one next to Club Charles (1724 N. Charles St.).

Come celebrate Smartish Pace Issue 19 with a reading by poets from the issue including Joel Allegretti, Joseph Capista, Gregory Djanikian, Piotr Gwiazda, Lesley Jenike, Jennifer Maier, Matt McBride, M.B. McLatchey and Hayden Saunier! This is our annual NYC event and will be tons of fun, we promise.JOEL ALLEGRETTI’s fourth book of poems is Europa/Nippon/New York: Poems/Not-Poems (Poets Wear Prada, 2012). JOSEPH J. CAPISTA’s poems have appeared in Literary Imagination, North American Review and Slate. GREGORY DJANIKIAN’s sixth poetry collection is So I Will Till the Ground (Carnegie Mellon , 2007). PIOTR GWIAZDA’s second book of poems is Messages: Poems & Interview (Pond Road, 2012). JENNIFER MAIER’s first poetry collection is Dark Alphabet (Southern Illinois, 2006) and her second, Now Now (Pittsburgh), will appear in 2013. MATT McBRIDE has recently published poems in Forklift, Ohio; Ink Node; Juked; Little Red Leaves and SLAB. M.B. McLATCHEY has poems in Ekphrasis, Grain, Science, Shenandoah, The Comstock Review and The Southern Poetry Review. HAYDEN SAUNIER’s first book of poems is Tips for Domestic Travel (Black Lawrence, 2009).

This is SP's first event in Raleigh and we're thrilled to be at the wonderful new CAM, Raleigh, on Friday Nov. 16th!Aaron Belz is the author of The Bird Hoverer (BlazeVOX, 2007) and Lovely, Raspberry (Persea, 2010); a third, Glitter Bomb, is forthcoming from Persea. Deborah H. Doolittle is the author of No Crazy Notions (Longleaf, 2001) and That Echo (Longleaf, 2003). Jason Miller is the author of Langston Hughes and American Lynching Culture (Florida, 2011).

CityLit Poetry Panel

Smartish Pace Editor Stephen Reichert will moderate a panel with poets Michael Fallon, Sam Schmidt and Jennifer Wallace. The poets will read poems and discuss poetry. Michael Fallon is the 2011 winner of the Plan B Press poetry chapbook contest for his collection Since You Have No Body. Jennifer Wallace teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art, is a poetry editor at The Cortland Review and a founding editor of Toadlily Press. Her poems appear in numerous journals and anthologies. Sam Schmidt's first collection of poems, Suburban Myths, was published in 2011.
