Submit no more than 6 poems. Please type your poems on one side of the page only.Type your name, address, e-mail and phone (preferred) in an upper corner of each poem that you submit.
We will consider poems of any length, style and subject matter.
A cover letter and bio is required. Include such information as: books (include the publisher & year), magazine appearances (list no more than 6), where you were born/live, your occupation, awards, grants and education. The bio is NOT used by the editors in making selections. The bios are needed only for the purpose of creating the contributors section of the journal.
We will not consider previously published poems unless you receive permission from the Editor before submitting.
Simultaneous submissions are permitted, but they must be identified as such in your cover letter. We also request that you inform us ASAP if a poem submitted to Smartish Pace has been accepted elsewhere for publication. For your convenience send us an email.
Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with your manuscript. If a SASE is not included we may not respond to your submission and we won¹t return your manuscript.
Please do not submit another manuscript until you receive word regarding the first. Do not submit more than once per year unless solicited or given permission by the Editor.
Expect 4 to 8 months for a decision. We are now receiving over 3,000 submissions per issue. Please do not write, or e-mail, us requesting the status of your submission unless 8 months has passed since you submitted.
We pay one copy. We acquire first serial rights (copyright reverts back to poet upon publication).

Address submissions to "Editor," not to the staff editors by name, unless you have a legitimate association with them, have been solicited, or have been previously published in Smartish Pace.
