Biography of Michael Collier

Michael Collier is the author of ﬁve books of poems including The Ledge (Houghton Mifﬂin, 2000), a ﬁnalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Dark Wild Realm (Mariner, 2007). He is co-editor of A William Maxwell Portrait (W.W. Norton, 2004). His translation of Euripides’s Medea (Oxford) appeared in 2006 and a book of essays, Make Us Wave Back (Michigan), in 2007. He was Poet Laureate of Maryland from 2001 to 2004. Collier's Poets Q&A and poetry reading video, both from 2009, appear at www.smartishpace.com. [bio updated 2011]
